Privacy Policy

Fair Quote ("we", "us") is an independently operated website based in the United States. You can reach us any time through our contact form; we reply within two business days. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Information you give us:

When you request quotes: your name, phone number, email, ZIP code, project type, project details, and timeline
Your name, email, and message when you use the contact form

Information that stays on your device: The project choices and quote amounts you type into the estimator are calculated in your browser and are not sent to us.

Information collected automatically: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time) to keep the site running and secure. We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics.

How we use it

To respond to you and provide what you asked for
To send the emails you signed up for, each with an unsubscribe link
To process payments and keep required records
To keep the site secure and prevent fraud or abuse
To comply with the law

We don't use your information to build advertising profiles.

Service providers that run parts of the site for us, under contracts that limit their use of your data: Netlify (website hosting and form storage), Stripe (payments, where offered), and Google Fonts (your browser loads typefaces from Google, which receives your IP address).
Contractors, when you ask for quotes. We're still building our contractor network. If you submit a quote request and check the consent box, we'll email you when pros are available in your area and ask before sharing your request. Once you agree, we share it with up to three contractors who serve your area so they can contact you. Those contractors may pay us for the introduction. Each contractor's own privacy policy applies to how they use your information.
Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.
Business transfers: if the business is sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

Payments. We don't take payments from homeowners.

Sale and sharing of personal information. Sharing your quote request with contractors who pay us may count as a "sale" of personal information under some state privacy laws. We only do it when you ask us to by submitting a quote request and checking the consent box, and only for that project. You can opt out at any time by using our contact form (choose "Delete my data"); we'll stop sharing your information and ask the contractors we shared it with to stop contacting you. Replying STOP to any text from us or a contractor also opts you out of texts.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we have about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale, sharing, or use for targeted advertising. We give these rights to everyone, wherever you live.

To make a request, use our contact form and choose "Privacy request" or "Delete my data." We'll confirm we received it within 10 days and respond within 45 days. We may need to confirm your identity first. You can use an authorized agent. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we'll respond within 60 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

We honor Global Privacy Control browser signals as an opt-out of sale and sharing.

How long we keep it

Quote requests are kept for 12 months and then deleted, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Contact form messages are kept for up to 24 months.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Children

Fair Quote is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Visitors outside the United States

We're based in the United States and your information is processed here.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll post a notice on the site or email people we have contact details for.
